5. Fees, invoicing, and payment
Unless the Scope states otherwise, the base rate is £30 (GBP) per hour for time spent on your commission, including reasonable communication directly related to the job. New custom commissions may be subject to a minimum fee of £120 unless the Scope states otherwise.
The rate reflects UK freelance business costs and sustainable production, not an employee hourly wage or statutory minimum wage. It is set so I can deliver the pipeline described in the Scope (Blender, Substance, and agreed exports) without undercutting the cost of running that pipeline.
Your invoice covers time on your Scope and a fair share of ongoing overheads. I do not line-item these on invoices, but they are part of how the published rate is calculated:
Fees are exclusive of VAT unless an invoice explicitly includes VAT. If I am required to charge VAT, it will be shown on the invoice.
I may require a non-refundable deposit of up to fifty percent (50%) of the quoted total before work begins, especially for new clients, large scopes, or tight deadlines. The Scope states deposit amount and due date.
Final deliverables and source files (if included in the Scope) are released only after all fees for that commission are paid in full, unless milestone billing is agreed in writing.
You are responsible for payment processor fees, currency conversion, chargeback fees, and bank charges on your side unless the invoice states otherwise.
For business clients, overdue invoices may accrue statutory or contractual interest and reasonable recovery costs permitted by the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 and related law.
If you initiate a chargeback or payment reversal after receiving deliverables without a good-faith dispute raised with me first, you breach these Terms. I may treat any license or assignment as revoked, demand repayment of disputed amounts plus reasonable costs, and refuse future work.
- Labour: hard-surface modeling, Substance texturing, look development, and deliverables per the Scope.
- Professional software subscriptions (including Adobe Substance and related tools), typically around £120 per month in aggregate, incurred whether or not your commission is active that month.
- Hardware and maintenance for production equipment (for example workstation, storage, and peripherals).
- Website, commission intake, Discord project channels, quotes, and reasonable administrative time tied to running the service.
- Tax, National Insurance, and other obligations on self-employed income in the United Kingdom, plus non-billable time between commissions when overheads continue.
- Preview renders or work-in-progress may be watermarked or lower resolution until payment conditions in the Scope are met.
- Partial payment does not grant a partial license to use final-quality deliverables for commercial release unless the Scope explicitly says otherwise.
